This very popular restaurant in the Jordaan,
still feels hip even though it has been around
for a very long time. The pastas are all home-made
and the wonderful Italian bread comes out of
Toscanini's own bakery. Besides a seasonal fixed
menu, there is also a menu of the day with its
own delights. Be sure to save room for the Italian
ice-cream…it is even better, than it looks.
Reservations are advised.

Small Italian restaurant where the chef will
decide what you eat.
When you next catch a film at The Movies, stop
for dinner at this lovely little restaurant.
Make sure that you don’t confuse it with
any of the other Italian restaurants on the
street. Look carefully for number 128. It’s
a real family-run place, where Mama cooks, and
Papa does the washing up. The son will take
your order , but if he gets rude…he might
just get a slap from Mama! The cuisine is authentic
(for Dutch standards) and freshly prepared,
while the ambience is informal and welcoming.

Atmosphere : Casual
Price : $$-$$$

Italian restaurant 4 Stagioni, has definitely
found its groove. The interior is a former butcher-shop-turned-restaurant
with colourful antique tiles on the walls portraying
the four seasons, hence the name 4 Stagioni.
Very fun and funky! Once you try the crunchy
pizzas and al dente pasta's, you too will become
a fan. The loud theatrical presence of some
of the waitresses and oodles of children can
make for rather noisy surroundings, but it’s
all a part of the Italian experience.

Italian goodness served with New York style.
This Italian-American restaurant is small yet
stylish: with a dark, modern glow that suits
the no-nonsense atmosphere perfectly. The menu
showcases a marriage of Italian inspirations
featuring a New York twist. The frisee' and
radicchio salad with marinated white beans and
grilled sausage is simply fantastic. It seems
the chef was inspired by his grandmother, Nana
Gentile, and learned many culinary tricks from
her as he spent his childhood summers in her
kitchen.
