Situated in
the heart of the Jordaan neighbourhood, Jericho
is an unassuming Pizzeria, that looks like many
of the others, scattered throughout the city.
But don’t walk by without stopping or
you will miss out on some of the best homestyle
Italian food, at a reasonable price. As we sat
ourselves at an outdoor table, our waitress
was quick to greet us and take a drink order.
Reading through the menu, I decided to start
with an Insalata Greca and Drew opted for the
Insalata Pomodoro, and we chose to share a ham
and mushroom pizza. Biting into my salad, I
encountered the creamiest, most delicious feta
cheese I have ever eaten. It literally melted
in my mouth!
Drew’s salad was heaped with fresh, juicy
Roma tomatoes and just the right amount of olive
oil. The pizza came soon after, but I had to
eat every morsel of salad, as not to miss out
on any of that cheese. Our pizza was cooked
to perfection, thin crust, fresh mushrooms,
and a yummy sauce.
We cleaned our plates and didn’t leave
behind a single bite!
When I went inside to pay the bill, I met the
owner Pedros, and complimented him on our meals,
and the great service. He was very friendly,
and agreed to let me come back with the camera
to take some photos.
Our total bill came to 23.50 .
A couple of
weeks later, Drew went back up and got a calzone,
which was enormous and stuffed with fresh veggies
and meats, and a salami pizza. Both were delicious
and we are certainly going back for more.
